Parenthetical Units and Structures in Italian and German spoken language: Prosodic and textual analysis


 This work presents the prosodic analysis of Parenthetical Units in spoken Italian and German within theoretical framework Language into Act Theory (L-AcT), which defines such textual units as Parentheses (PARs), i.e. devices used by speaker to add information utterance on a secondary level text. Data were extracted from Minicorpus DB-IPIC resource FOLK corpus. Linguistic content distribution analyzed. Furthermore, subset approximately 100 PARs was selected for each corpus these prosodically analyzed relation mandatory called Comment L-AcT framework, express illocutionary force utterance. The results show similar characteristics two languages, an overall decrease f0 values correlation between length PARs, well presence additional separating it COM, frequency values. authors also noted Structures that go beyond simple unit, could suggest are wider strategy operating inter-utterance.
